Non-technical and Educational Outreach

Sharing expertise in meteorology

MMM staff have devoted many hours to sharing their expertise in meteorology with the public at large, through presentations and informal teaching arrangements. Outlined below are some of the outreach activities performed.

Mary Barth

Mentor for a Cherry Creek High School Science Project in Cherry Creek, CO from January 2003 to April 2003.

N. Andrew Crook

Presentation to classes at St. Louis Primary in Lafayette, CO entitled “Talk on Weather” in February 2003 and a presentation to classes at Niwot Elementary, CO entitled “Talk on Australia and Weather” in March 2003.

BAMEX Media Day in St. Louis, MO on 19 May 2003.

Mary Golden

English as a Second Language Science Editor for the NCAR Visitor Program; Science Ambassador for the High School Career Fair; Science Ambassador for the University of Colorado Fall Career Fair; Mentor for the Latinas Building Bridges in Education Conference in April 2003 at NCAR.

Jason Knievel

Judge at Science Fair for Eisenhower Elementary School, Boulder, CO, on 7 February 2003.

John Latham

Tutored a 5-day residential course on Creative Writing and Science at the Arvon Foundation, Yorkshire, UK in September 2003.

Rebecca Morss

Guest for one hour on Denver talk radio KNRC 1150AM with host Jean-Jacques de Mesterton on 9 August 2003, Topic: Extreme weather and climate events.
