The figure shows a series of vertical cross sections at t=9, 22.5, and 45 hours of potential temperature and along-mountain/front velocity. These cross sections show the weakening of the frontal temperature gradient and the northerly frontal jet (blue dashed contours) as the front ascends the windward slope of the plateau (middle panel). The barrier jet is evident both prior to and following frontal passage at the coast.
