WRF Tutorial

The NCAR/Mesoscale and Microscale Meteorology Division invites you to attend its first WRF Tutorial, immediately following the WRF/MM5 Workshop.

FOCUS: The tutorial will consist of a series of lectures on various components of WRF modeling system and hands-on practice sessions, including:

Overview of the WRF modeling system
Dynamics and numerics of WRF mass core
WRF physics
Initialization for idealized cases
Initialization for real-data cases
How to set up and run WRF SI
How to set up and run WRF model
WRF Software
Post-processing graphic tools
3DVAR Practice sessions

Joint WRF and MM5 Users' Workshop

The workshop provides a forum for both MM5 and WRF users to share their research results, and discuss problems and new developments.

FOCUS: Papers in the areas of model development, efforts in making the transition from MM5 to WRF, and comparison studies between MM5 and WRF are especially encouraged.
