The 9th WRF Users' Workshop will take place at the NCAR's Center Green campus, Boulder, Colorado, on 23-27 June 2008.
Papers focusing on WRF model development and testing are solicited, particularly in the area of model numerics and physics, model verification, regional climate, high-impact weather, hurricanes, regional climate, data assimilation, ensemble forecasting and atmospheric chemistry. Authors may request either an oral or poster presentation. We encourage authors to consider submission for poster presentation due to time constrains for oral sessions.
Designation of papers for oral and poster sessions will be posted in the workshop program on the web by June 2.
The workshop will begin on Monday, 23 June, with voluntarily organized working group meetings. This is not limited to the existing WRF Working Groups. Interested groups or individuals should contact wrfhelp for assistance in scheduling these meetings. Currently, five working groups are planning to meet. These are physics, atmospheric boundary layer, land-surface physics, regional climate, data assimilation and chemistry. A group meeting schedule will be posted on the web prior to the workshop. All interested users are encouraged to participate.
Short tutorial sessions will be offered for:
LEAD (http://leadproject.org),
MET (http://www.dtcenter.org/met/users/)
and,
VAPOR (http://www.vapor.ucar.edu).
In addition to the Developer Forum (or Q&A Session) during the workshop, WRF helpdesk will open for several sessions for users to discuss their special issues with developers.
All workshop activities will be finished by noon Friday, 27 June 2008.
Short abstract submission: 25 April.
Extended abstract submission: 11 June.
Early registration: 11 June.
All workshop presentations and abstracts will be published on the web (you may indicate that you do NOT want us to publish your materials, when you submit it). Extended abstracts in PDF format can be submitted using the MODIFY REG INFO button, left. Full details for presenters are available on our Presenter's FAQ.
The early registration fee is $175.00. If you register after 11 June, the registration fee will be $225.00.
Blocks of hotel rooms are reserved at 3 local hotels. More information about the workshop location and lodging is available at the "Travel/Lodging" link.
