The agenda for this workshop is now available online.
The Workshop on Ensemble Data Assimilation will be held 7--9 April 2008 at the Balcones Springs Conference Center outside Austin, Texas. Following similar workshops held in Boulder in 2004 and at Balcones Springs in 2006, the workshop will concentrate on applications of the ensemble Kalman filter and related techniques to limited-area models and the atmospheric meso- and convective scales. Other applications and related topics are also welcome. We expect the workshop to again be small enough to allow ample opportunity for discussion and recreation.
We ask that you submit short abstracts and reserve a room at the conference center by 15 February 2008. More hotel details can be found on the travel web page. Because interest in the workshop has increased, we may include a poster session; if so, we will spread oral presentations equitably between various research efforts and groups.
If you have previously indicated that you would be able to attend, but your plans have changed (including the number of students and postdocs who will accompany you), please let us know as soon as possible so that we can contact others interested in the workshop.
For those of you who will be accompanied by postdocs and students who are not on the mailing list, please ensure that they receive the information on abstracts and reservations.
Previous meetings: The proceedings from the previous workshop are summarized in http://www.met.tamu.edu/people/faculty/fzhang/papers/ZhangSnyder2007BAMS.pdf. The agenda for the meeting and pdfs from most talks are archived at http://www.met.tamu.edu:16080/people/faculty/fzhang/EnDA2006/.
We look forward to seeing you at the workshop.
Sincerely, the organizers:
Fuqing Zhang, David Dowell and Chris Snyder
