The 7th World Meteorological Organization (WMO) Cloud Modeling Workshop is planned for July 14-17, 2008, in Cozumel, Mexico, immediately following the International Conference on Clouds and Precipitation (ICCP). The strategy is similar to past WMO cloud modeling workshops that have utilized observationally-derived case studies to provide a framework for the model intercomparison. The focus is on three key areas: 1) deep convection, 2) stratiform mixed-phase clouds, and 3) cloud chemistry (please see Workshop Cases page for details of each case).
The workshop will be divided into plenary sessions and working group meetings centered around each of the case studies. A social event and group dinner is also planned during the workshop (details to follow). For more details and to register, please see the Announcement and Registration pages.
IMPORTANT: All meetings on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday will be held at the hotel Casa Mexicana in centro San Miguel on Av Rafael Melgar between Calle 5 Sur and Calle 7 Sur. Then on Thursday, we will meet at Playa Azul hotel. Distance between these two hotels is 5 km (3.1 miles) and we will try to arrange taxi/van service each morning. Please see "Detailed information on travel and lodging in the "Travel and Lodging" page.
Hugh Morrison and Greg Thompson (NCAR), Co-Chairs
The 7th Cloud Modeling Workshop issponsored in part by the NCAR Water Cycle
Across Scales initiative.

All workshop participants are invited to present results of their research as short talks in the plenary session (15-30 minutes depending on the number of papers submitted). If some of participants would prefer to present posters, please let us know as soon as possible so we can plan accordingly. We may also decide to designate some of the contributed papers into posters if the number of papers is in excess of time available.
Papers pertaining to the general area of cloud physics and cloud modeling are welcome. Additional time will be available during the working group meetings to discuss specific results from the workshop case studies. To submit a paper, please send an abstract to Hugh Morrison (morrison@ucar.edu) no later than April 22, 2008.
January 29: Registration Opens
