Purpose
To bring together tropical cyclone and climate experts in a workshop environment
to discuss:
- Potential impacts of greenhouse warming on tropical cyclones;
- The role of tropical cyclones in the general climate (up and down scale);
- Optimal paths to improving our understanding and predictive capacity
using regional climate models.
Participation
The workshop is by invitation only, with participation from leading global
experts on tropical cyclones and climate change. Any invitees are also welcome
to bring students working in related areas and a special poster session
has been set aside to enable them to present their ideas.
Expected Outcomes
- A short white paper as input for wider discussions at the 6th WMO International
Workshop on Climate Change taking place November 20-30th.
- A BAMS article covering both the state of the science and the ways of
moving forward.
- Collaborations on future projects.
