3. ADVANCING THE SCIENCE OF ATMOSPHERIC PREDICTION

Our major goals for advancing the science of prediction are to:

• Advance short-range weather prediction;
• Advance data assimilation research; and,
• Lead the development of techniques suited to improving forecasts of atmospheric constituents and hazardous materials.
