4. ADVANCED COMMUNITY RESEARCH TOOLS

As our continued service to the community, MMM will support the development, maintenance, and refinement of advanced, state-of-the-science research tools, including:

• Continued support of WRF as a community resource by further refinements, maintenance, and community education programs;
• Provision of the advanced data assimilation techniques that arise from the prediction goal to the community, but on a user-onus basis; and,
• Development of a Nested Climate Model to be made available as a community resource.

We acknowledge, with thanks, that these community research tools have been developed with substantial community involvement, both in the planning and the development of components. This 2-way involvement with the community is one of the great strengths of the community research tools. It enables MMM to respond to needs and requirements and it also provides us with excellent ideas for future research.
