DEBRIEFING OF CHILL SETUP FOR WEEK 4/24-4/28:
CSU-CHILL Facility Progress Report #17: 4/24 - 28/2000
Radar set up at the ITR site was started this week.
Specific Activities:
- Radar assembly activities were started on Tuesday, 4/25 when the CP-2
radome tie-down ring sections were laid out on the new antenna foundation pad.
The ring sections were cleaned with solvent and new foam air sealant material
was applied. The fully assembled ring was anchored to the concrete by the paAd
contractor on Thursday, 4/27.
- Herman Ready Mix also supplied a semi-truck tractor and driver to
reposition the trailers. The MOCCA, CHILL user van, and the FPS-18 trailer
were all positioned properly with respect to the pad center point. Connection
of the various inter-trailer cables has been started.
- Commercial power became available at the site during the late morning hours
of Friday, 4/28. The radome blowers have been test run to confirm that they
are rotating in the correct direction. The electrical contractor also trenched
in the phone lines to the radar vans. The phone company should connect these
lines next week.
- Crane activities are scheduled to start on Monday, 5/1. A locally
available 30 ton crane will arrive in the morning to set up the three pedestal
extension tube sections. If the weather conditions look promising for Tuesday
morning, the 70 ton crane required to finish the antenna and radome
installation will leave its Ft. Morgan base for ITR around noon.
