STEPS OPERATIONS JOURNAL

    Date: June 7, 2000
    Operations Director: Morris Weisman

WEATHER FORECAST:

Forecasters: Sven (NWS) and Gilmore (NSSL/CIMMS)

Hot and dry weather expected over the STEPS domain today, with no significant convection expected.

Hot and dry conditions expected for Thursday as well, with little chance for significant convection.

A deep upper-level disturbance will be propagating eastward from the west coast over the next couple of days, producing cooling and moistening aloft on Friday, increasing the potential for significant convection within the STEPS domain on Friday. Increasing vertical wind shears will also increase the potential for supercellular convection.
