WEATHER FORECAST:

    Forecasters: None

Today:

Hot conditions continue with warm temperatures and weak flow aloft. Little or no convection is expected in the STEPS domain.

Note: The 9am formal weather briefing and debriefing of the previous day's operations have been suspended. We will maintain a daily look at the weather, but no other briefings/debriefings will be conducted. The forecast matrix will no longer be posted.

EQUIPMENT STATUS:

The following research systems are all operational: S-Pol, LMA, and YRFS. These systems are all that remain available to STEPS. S-Pol will continue through Sunday, July 16, mostly for Charlie Knight's young cloud studies, but will be available to scan storms in the LMA 2D/3D lightning mapping area should they develop +CGs.

EXPECTED OPERATIONS FOR 0715:

The S-Pol radar will be used by Charlie Knight for young cloud studies. Should significant convection develop and become electrically active, S-Pol will scan it.

DEBRIEFING OF OPERATIONS FOR 0715:

Some widely scattered small cells developed in the STEPS domain, but none became electrically active. No S-Pol storm scans were taken.
