NMIMT three-dimensional Lightning Mapping Array for STEPS
Thirteen stations are to be deployed in eastern Colorado and western Kansas
at locations marked A-M. The large equilateral triangle H-I-J corresponds to
an 80-km-baseline network of Doppler radars located at Stratton, Vernon, and
Goodland. The green stickpins correspond to a more compact 60-km-baseline
network of radars at Bethune, Idalia, and Goodland. The seven central stations
A-G optimize coverage within the triple Doppler region. The six outlying
stations extend the areal coverage, with stations K-L-M covering the exterior
dual-doppler lobes of the different radar pairs. The overall arrangement
provides high-resolution coverage in the triple Doppler region between the
radars and good-quality coverage to well outside the radar network. Provided
