17:00 - End Of Workshop

Purpose of Workshop:

"Tom Vonder Haar, CIRA's director, originally suggested the idea of a two-part workshop/meeting between MMM and CIRA data assimilation groups. This followed discussions with Greg Holland, who expressed interest to discuss possible avenues for exchange and collaboration. It was originally suggested that there be two 1/2 day meetings (one at CSU and one in Boulder). The focus at this time is on a single 1-day meeting in Boulder, with a potential follow-up meeting later in Fort Collins. Participants would be scientists in MMM/CIRA with an interest in discussing data assimilation activities and possible synergy. During the meetings there should be brief presentations and significant time for discussion."

NCAR/MMM Attendees:

Dale Barker, Alain Caya(?), Greg Holland, Hans Huang, Joe Klemp, Bill Kuo(?), Zhiquan Liu, Chris Snyder, Jenny Sun, Qingnong Xiao, David Dowell (?)

CSU/CIRA Attendees:

Arif Albayrak, Andy Jones, Steve Fletcher, Laura Fowler, Manajit Sengupta, Tom Vonder Haar, Tomi Vukicevic, Milija Zupanski and Dusanka Zupanski

Logistics:

Speakers: Please send powerpoint presentations to dmbarker@ucar.edu by 5pm Friday Sept. 16th.

Talks: Maximum of 12 minutes, leaving 3 minutes for immediate questions (time in discussion sessions later for more questions). Please keep in mind that we wish the presentations to serve the purpose of a very short review of a particular activity and introduction to the participants of the presenter's interest and expertise.
