Scientific Communications Interests

As Chief Editorial Assistant for the AMS Monthly Weather Review (http://www.mmm.ucar.edu/mwr/index.html), I enjoy helping scientific staff improve their writing and presentation skills. To this end, I initiated the Communicating Science program in 2003 (http://eo.ucar.edu/commsci/), continue to cochair its English as a Second Language (ESL) committee, and serve as an editor, a mentor and a writing coach. For three years, I have volunteered as a writing mentor with SOARS (http://www.ucar.edu/soars/). I am also dedicated to building community and serve on the UCAR Employee Activities Committee (http://www.ucar.edu/eac/) and volunteer as a science teacher in a local elementary school.
