The 19th BMB-NCAR Project Meeting

1. Discuss the project progress

Jiqin had got the WRF-Var based verification package worked with WRF forecast. There are still problems with the computation of the RMS and BIAS of pressure of SYNOP data.

Jiqin found there was problem within assimilation of pressure in SYNOP data when sfc_assi=2. Dr. Guo agrees to manage to resolve this problem by modifying the 3DVAR OBSPROC package.

New experiments list:

EXP11	avn12f, MM5 model, WRFVAR passed=4, var_scaling=1, len_scaling=1, check_rh=2, sfc_assi=1 t_err=2C, p_err=100pa, v_err=1.1m/s rh_err=10%
EXP15	The same as EXP11, but with sfc_assi=2
EXP16	The same as EXP15, but with t_err=1.3C, p_err=100pa, v_err=0.9m/s rh_err=6%
EXP17	The same as EXP11, but with WRF model
EXP18	The same as EXP17, but use WRF 12h forecast as background

2. Make a task list

Get the WRF-VAR based verification package to be used to verify MM5 forecast. Compare the verification scores of EXP11 with that of the EXP11_wrf_avn12f

Run EXP11_wrf_wrf12f and compare the verification scores with that of EXP11_wrf_avn12f

Rerun EXP16 after the bug in running with sfc_assi=2 is resolved.
