1. Discuss the project progress

Jiqin analyzed the O-B of every AWS station within experiment duration and found pressure observations from 3 stations (518, 600 and 601) were not normal. When these 3 stations were removed from the experiments, the pressure verification scores based on AWS were improved.

The verification results based on 3-hourly AWS observations were available.

The verification scores indicated that the local AWS data were assimilated correctly and lead to better fit to observations at the analysis time. However, the data had little impact on the forecast due to the data amount (only 27 stations providing single level data) and coverage (all local AWS stations are within two grid boxes).

2. Make a task list

Move from AWS to GPSPW:

• Analyze O-B of GPSPW data and make sure about the data quality is acceptable.
• Run GPSPW assimilation experiments.
