Research Interests

I am a Project Scientist in and Deputy Section Head of the Dynamical and Physical Meteorology Section within MMM.

I study atmospheric/oceanic boundary layers and turbulence with a range of foci: 1) statistics and structure of canopy turbulence and the interaction with larger boundary-layer-scale turbulence, 2) orographic influences on turbulent exchange, 3) boundary-layer response to coupled surfaces, 4) turbulence-chemistry interactions, 5) turbulent dispersion, and 6) air-sea interaction. Most of my work involves the use of large-eddy simulation as a bridge to connect observations and parameterizations for larger-scale models through process-level understanding.
