CommunigatePro Mail Server - User Guide
January 9, 2006
The new central mail server is a Sun cluster in CISL. It uses a commercial
software package called CommunigatePro. Any questions or problems that
staff have related to the new system should be directed to the MMM systems
staff. We will interact with the CISL staff as needed to resolve any
issues. Hardware upgrades are planned within the next couple of months
to accommodate the additional load we will be putting on the system and
future growth. In the interim staff may notice some slow downs during peak
usage hours. Some items to note
- Mail quotas are 1GB
- Daily archives of mail expire after 32 days.
- Inbox is scanned for viruses before loading. There may be a few second delay before loading depending on size of Inbox.
- There appears to be a slight increase in SPAM with the new server. We will be setting up SPAM block levels and Mailguard for users who are not already using these tools.
- Default setting for Trash: On logout remove from Trash if older than two days. See below for information on changing this setting.
