Abbreviated one-line summaries per volume scan, either RHI (scan in the elevation direction while keeping the azimuth angle fixed), SUR (scan 360 degrees in azimuth while keeping the elevation angle fixed), and PPI (scan an azimuth sector while keeping the elevation angle fixed). There are 11 columns in the tabulation:
1 The beginning and ending times of the scan in HHMMSS-HHMMSS (UTC),
where H is hours, M is minutes, and S is seconds.
2 The type of scan: RHI, SUR, or PPI.
3-6 Characteristics of the angle held fixed (either azimuth for RHI,
or elevation for SUR and PPI): beginning, ending, increment, and
number.
7-8 Characteristics of the angle scanned (either elevation for RHI, or
azimuth for SUR and PPI): beginning and ending bounds.
9-10 Characteristics of the range gate sampling: number and
spacing (km).
11 The last part of the mass store file. The ATD/RDP naming
convention for radar data on the NCAR Mass Store System (MSS) is
FOFDMG/DATA/SCMS/CP2/C295MMDD.HHMM
where M is month or minutes, D is day, and H is hours of the first scan in the
MSS file. If the MSS file name has an asterik following it, the actual
radar volume scanned crosses over into the next-listed MSS file name.
