The Engineering for Climate Extremes Partnership (ECEP) is a collaboration between industry, academia, government, and society facilitated by NCAR with the goal of developing robust, well-communicated predictions and advice on the impacts of weather and climate extremes to support robust/resilient decision-making. The Capacity Center for Climate and Weather Extremes (C3WE) hosted the 5th Annual ECEP® Workshop in Boulder, Colorado, June 19-20, 2017. This workshop brought together leaders from public, private, and academic organizations.
During this meeting, the C3WE team and collaborators will highlight developments of the Global Risk, Resilience, and Impacts Toolbox (GRRIT®) and tools created to support resilient decision-making. A direct outcome of previous ECEP interactions, GRRIT is being developed to aid society in reducing the impacts of climate and weather extremes by making advanced techniques, data, and scientific understanding readily available to all.
Participants will have an opportunity to learn more about and discuss GRRIT and how it can be applied to assist decision makers with long-term planning and risk management. In addition, workshop conversation will include considering ways to maximize GRRIT uptake, gaining perspectives on existing and asking attendees for perspective on desired GRRIT tools, and exploring future collaboration opportunities.
Workshop attendees are encouraged to present short, Ignite-style (four slides in four minutes) talks to highlight research or projects broadly relevant to the ECEP Workshop theme. Don’t miss out. Space for these talks is limited; please register early to ensure your speaking spot.
