MPAS-A
This session will provide an interactive demonstration of the steps to set up and run regional MPAS-Atmosphere simulations. Background material will also be presented to build a strong conceptual model of what is happening in each of these steps. After the conclusion of this session, participants will be left with no doubt that running regional MPAS-A simulations is at least as easy as running regional WRF simulations.

MPAS-JEDI
MPAS-JEDI is NCAR/MMM's new-generation community data assimilation system for the Model for Prediction Across Scales - Atmosphere (MPAS-A) based upon the Joint Effort for Data assimilation Integration (JEDI). MPAS-JEDI allows both global and regional applications with deterministic or ensemble data assimilation algorithms. Advanced all-sky satellite radiance data assimilation capability is also enabled in MPAS-JEDI. This short tutorial will introduce MPAS-JEDI's main features followed by a live demonstration on how to build, configure, and run it for a combination of data assimilation algorithms and use of observations. Auxiliary software packages for data assimilation diagnostic, observation preprocessing, and workflow control will also be briefly introduced.
